Over the past couple of weeks, I have heard some great messages. One that I am thinking of today takes me to John 15 where God is talking about the vine and the branches.
Not sure why this never clicked with me before but today as I read verses 1 and 2, I see something. God just took away the branch that wasn't bearing fruit while the one that is bearing fruit is the one who gets cleansed or pruned.
When I first think about that it really doesn't seem fair. While the fruitful branch is doing what it is suppose to do why is it having to go through a very painful process. If anything or anyone deserves to go through pain and anguish shouldn't it be the one branch or that one person that is NOT bearing fruit?
This verse tells me that God just doesn't waste His time with those who are not bearing fruit. The bible says in verse two concerning that branch, "He takes it away". That's it. Done. Finished. Its as if God is saying, "If you are not going to bear fruit, then I am not going to spend time working with you. " And you can see that take place in the lives of so many. They are the ones that are never happy with anything. Nothing satisfies them and they seem to be living a miserable life even though they claim to have Christ in their life.
But then on the other hand you have this one branch that is bringing forth fruit as it should. God makes that branch go through a very painful process of cleansing so that branch can do even more. I may not realize at this moment why I am going through the things I am going through. I just have to put my faith and trust in God that this time of pruning in my life is just making room for more fruit. How exiciting is that? God going me ready to be used by Him to win souls for the kingdom?
"God help me to be the branch that is bearing fruit. Help me to understand that a pruning process must take place in my life for me to grow and do more for you."
