I watched and listened closely to a message last night. There was a phrase he used that I can't get out of my head this morning.

"People had rather see a message than hear a message"

While I spend most of my week preparing for three messages (Wed., Sun AM and Sun PM) it caused me to stop to see what type of message I was living. Am I presenting a daily message of victory or am I asking people to live as I say live but not as I live?

Hard words to swallow today. I want others to be encouraging and nice, I should be the same way. I want church members who are sold out in their bible study and prayer life, I should be the same way. I ask them to invite lost people to church, I should do the same.

Galatians 5:16 says to "walk by the Spirit". Now I know we are to teach under the guidance of the Holy Spirit but this scripture encourages me to walk no other way than under the guidance of the Spirit. If I am walking by the Spirit of God then I don't have to worry about the message I am living because the Holy Spirit will be living it through me.

As Dr. Tony Evans once said, "we are nothing but containers". We were made to be filled with the Spirit. If we are not filled with the Spirit of God then we are living empty lives.

"Lord, help me life be a greater message with more impact than what I say when I stand behind the pulpit."
