I am like everyone else in that I want what is best for every individual I come in contact with. I want to see business owners succeed, I want to see children do their best in sporting events and dance recitals. I want to see our teenagers making the best grades possible. I want to see our church families prospering in the way of the Lord.
But Romans gives me a scripture that should above all be my greatest desire.
Romans 10:1
"Bretheren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation."
What good is a college scholarship because of good grades if that teenager is not a Christian?
What good is our kids succeeding in activities if they do not know the Lord personally?
What good is having all the money in the world if our heavenly home is not secure?
While I try to help people succeed in all areas of life, I pray that God would give me the heart to worry more about their salvation than any other concern they might have. I need to focus on sharing Christ while giving food to a family in need. I need to share Christ when a co-worker begins a conversation. I need to share Christ when the waitress is telling me she is having a bad day. I need to share Christ with everyone I come in contact with today.
Prayer:
"Lord, help me realize that the most important decision anyone will make today will be of taking you as their personal Savior. Help me to have the same desire as Paul to see people saved."
