Sometimes I am what the bible calls an "anxious" person. I find myself concerned about things that have not even happened yet. Wondering if I will have enough money to do this or have enough groceries to last until the next payday. Concerned about things that won't happen for months down the road but I allow myself to get so caught up in worrying about the future that I forget to live for today.
Matthew 6:25
"...Do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing?
Matthew's writings goes on to say that if God will provide for the sparrows that fly from here and there will He not provide for His own children? God knows what we need and He is even concerned about the desires of our hearts. If we believe He is all powerful, all knowing, everywhere present to see our needs, why do we worry? Some would say it is just natural. It is natural for those without a relationship with Jesus Christ but for the believer, we need to take those thoughts and feelings captive. We should not entertain the feelings or worry and anxious thoughts. In allowing those into our thought process is taking the place of our faith in God being able to handle all situations.
Down in verse 34
"Therefore, do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself."
LIVE for today and not tomorrow. Do things today that you would do if it were your last...because it could be.
Prayer:
"Lord, I don't want to take anything away from you by worrying over situations, some I can't even handle on my own. Help me today to just fully trust you and live today for your glory knowing that You have a job for me to accomplish today."
