Have you ever had to get up in the middle of the night while it's dark and just before you reach your destination (bathroom or kitchen) you fall over something that was left sitting in the middle of the floor?

For some reason you felt macho enough to try and make it through the house without turning on a light. And just before you made it you find yourself face down on the floor because of some little something that caused you to stumble. And you have to decide, am I going to get up or just sleep right here the rest of the night?

Well you have an enemy who is after you and he is trying his best to cause you to stumble.

That's why Christ said in John 16:1, "These things I have spoken to you that you may be kept from stumbling."

"These thing..." = God's words.

God's book is in place for us so that we can keep from stumbling. If you find yourself about to fall over some little something that was left out by the enemy, simply turn on the light of God's word and allow it to do what Christ said it would do..."Keep you from stumbling." The only time we should be found on our face is when we are bowed in front of God calling out to Him.

Prayer: "God, you know what is before me today. You knew the enemy would be at work trying to cause me to stumble, I pray you would guide my through Your Word so I can keep from falling on my face."
