The Psalmist David wrote some great encouraging words that can lift you up when you are down. Sometimes I find myself sitting right where David was when he penned some of these great writings.
There is one time he was in a cave all alone. He was hiding out from the enemy who was trying to take his life. In Psalm 142 we get a chance to listen in on the prayer he offered to God on that day. It's a prayer that maybe you need to pray today.
But there is one statement that spoke to me. In verse 7 David says, "bring my soul out of prison". How many of us sometimes put ourselves into a prison? We get arrested by the thoughts of others, we are handcuffed to our past in thinking we can never change. You hear the statements "Once a drunk always a drunk". But that is not scriptural at all. God said we can become "new creatures" "old things passed away, all things become new".
So get yourself out of prison and shake off those handcuffs...let's live a life of victory today in Jesus.
Prayer - "Lord, help me not to find myself in a prison today. When I am tempted to put the handcuffs of this world around my wrists help me to realize that I am a child of God who has the victory through Your Son Jesus! Thank you for VICTORY!"
