I have always heard this statement, "When I set my mind to it, I can do anything." Is that really true? Am I a person that can accomplish anything that I set my mind to doing? My wife says I am. Several in the church have made that observation as well.

If that is the case, shouldn't I be able to live a holy life acceptable to God as it says to do in Romans 12:1? I read about a man who did just that. He set his mind to do something for God and when he did, not even a king or a den of lions could change his mind.

Daniel 1:8, 9
"But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king's choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself. (9) Now God granted Daniel favor and compassion..."

Daniel just showed me how to get favor and compassion from God. I simply wake up each morning with a made up mind that I am not going to defile myself. No matter how tempting the king's food maybe, no matter how easy it could be to go off on someone, no matter how much fun it would be to just go crazy one more time.

If I have a made up mind I guess I can do anything. That "anything" just needs to be what God wants me to do and not just what I want.

Prayer:
"Lord, help me today to have a made up mind not to defile myself and bring sadness to you. Help me to strive today to make you happy and accomplish everything today You would have me accomplish."
